Most Adventists are health conscious. They refrain from Tobacco products, Caffeinated drinks, Alcoholic beverages and Pork products. They eat certain meats and many are Vegetarians. Has there ever been a study on the percentage vegetarians versus meat eatersof Meat eaters versus Non-meat eaters in Adventism?
Some studies reflect that Adventist on average live longer and have fewer health related complications compared to the national average.

If the lady did not know he was married, I wouldn't think anything less of her but it is the man that I would think less of. He should be man enough to be honest from the get go. Man enough to know not to cross that line and to handle his problem if any at home.

I think that they are both really, really messed up people that have no values, no morals, no ethics and are just plain selfish. They don't care for anyone other than themselves. They will both destroy other people, including innocent children, in their pursuit of pleasure and validation.
People do not have affairs for the sex - they have affairs because they are severely lacking as individuals.
They are the ones that cause 90% of all divorce and get married over and over and over trying to find that "perfect one" when it's not about the other person at all! .
It's all about their own defective character trying to find happiness by manipulating another to their whim and fancy.

I just read a poll where it states that 86% of husbands will divorce their cheating spouse but only 23% of women will divorce their cheating mates. Why do you all think that women are more reluctant to stay in the marriage than a man? Is it a maternal thing? Most men will divorce the wife while most wives will stay. Why?
I think I've read a similar story, but it also had more statistics stating that women are more likely to engage in drawn-out affairs in which they are involved emotionally. Men are less likely to be so involved with the other person. That fact might make one easier to look past. I certainly wouldn't forgive either, I don't need him that much.
Women are MUCH more likely to become financially dependent on their spouses, and because the mother usually takes the kids, that's an additional financial demand women have that men don't.
When you become financially dependent on a person, you become accustomed to a lifestyle (and so do children). Leaving that lifestyle to create one that is potentially way, WAY below what you're used to is a bad, if not terrifying prospect. Also, if kids are used to a certain lifestyle and the mother knows she can't recreate it, she knows that primary custody may stay with the father, and many mothers don't want that.
So, wives rationalize that it's better to turn a blind eye to the cheating and keep the family in tact than leave. I'll bet you anything that the majority of those 23% of women who left were either childless or had already raised their children.
These reasons are why I advocate that women never give up careers, even if their husbands have high incomes, and even after children.

Women are more likely to form an emotional attachement to their affair partner and thus will be more willing to pursue that relationship and break off their marriage. Even if the woman had a strong attachement to thier husband, they may not be able to discontinue with the affair and as a result force the husband's hand.
Men are less likely to form an emotional bond with the other woman. Its usually just about the physical. Thus they are more willing to do what it takes to make it work with thier wife. They are also more likely to make a clean break with the OW..
In fact, the stats that I have seen show that over 60% of men dont even consider leaving their spouse due to their own affair, but for women that is less than 1/2.

One of the reasons I think this happens is because wives generally tend to trust their husbands and even when they suspect an affair, they try to ignore it or lack proof to confirm an affair. Such probably need some lessons I detecting an affair.

why can't i lose waitWhy do people always want to lose weight real fast?
I can see if you want to lose 40 pounds, and you just can't wait. But why do you get questions on here like losing 5 pounds in 2 days, and such? 5 pounds or so isn't so hard to lose in the course of a week and a half, or two weeks.
So why does it seem like a lot of people rush it into an unhealthy amount of time?

how to sprint fasterHow to sprint faster, and get stronger legs?
my soccer try outs are coming up and i need to sprint faster. I can already run distance but i need to run a lot faster. I also need to get my legs stronger because i was the youngest and smalest on my team last season(i played up 2 years on the 15 year old team) and i dont want to be pushed around as much as last season!
Try different exercises than running during strength workouts. There are two sorts of strength that MATTER in sports: 1. Explosive hip power that uses momentum and 2. slow, controlled strength without momentum. You should work on slow strength to build a base for explosive sprinting.
When you hit the weight room for slow strength, stop squatting heavy. Deadlift instead. Try to pull the heaviest weight you can in GOOD FORM for only 1-3 reps for about 5 sets. This will strengthen the hips, which are the most important muscle group for sprinting. Keep your bodyweight as low as possible and try to lift slightly heavier weights over time. This will greatly assist your speed.
Alternatively, coordination might be your problem. Can you do one legged squats all the way down until your hamstring touches your ankle? If you can't you should work on 2 legged bodyweight squats until your form is perfect. Then, work on perfecting one legged squats, going deeper from workout to workout. By the time you can perform 30-50 one legged squats, slowly in good form from top to bottom, you should have stronger legs than most people.
Perhaps yourhow to sprint faster upper body is lacking in strength. Try doing pullups and leg raises. These will help "tie together" the upper and lower body. Remember to do these SLOWLY. Momentum only helps in power training, not strength training. Follow your pullup and leg raise training with slow pushups for a full upper body workout during gym days. If your goal is running faster, you shouldn't be wasting time with too many upper body exercises anyway. Those three will be enough while you train for SPEED.
For your slow strength training, try to fit in all those exercises listed: deadlifts, one legged squats, pullups, leg raises, and pushups, listed in order of importance. If you need to learn how to do these, search the internet for tips on form. For bodyweight exercises, try to increase reps while staying slow. For deadlifts, only increase weight, not reps.
To train explosively, focus on your hips as momentum generators. Do box jumps, kettlebell swings and snatches, burpees with a high jump, and of course, sprinting as fast as you can.
Sprint uphill if you aren't already. Sprint barefoot or in minimally padded shoes on soft ground, if possible. It will help your form, strengthen your feet, and lower your risk of injuries. At least twice a week you should be sprinting up a hill. Stop sprinting when you lose speed. Running slow will never help you improve. Find a small, steep hill and get to the top as fast as possible. Then walk down how to sprint fasteras you rest. Then sprint again. Do this at least 5 times, trying to beat your time each time.
After trying some of these strategies, retest your sprint from time to time. If you aren't improving, change something in your program to focus on 1. greater hip explosiveness and 2. slow, controlled strength in the upper and lower body.
Ankle weights might not be the best idea, if you wear them wile running it could be bad for your ankles.
Running hills and sprints is the best way to get faster, you should also do some plyometrics: jump rope, squats, lunges... Lifting weights would also help alot. The key to getting faster is quality over quantity. You could run 1000 miles and never get any faster if you don't run well.
Also, after you run a workout you should eat protein, this helps rebuild muscle and make you faster. After you run you have a 45 minute period when your body best absorbes nutrients, this is when you need to eat lots of protein and carbs.
Go on a track and sprint a 400 (1 lap) then take a two minute break. Try doing 8 for starters or maybe just 6. You could also try doing 200's (half a lap) as well. Just remember if it was easy then everyone would be doing it. That pain is making you stronger.

I have Neurofibromatosis type 1 and im looking for penpals who have Nf if any of you have Nf or know anyone with Nf reply to me : ) . I am 16
I have NF, I was born with it, but we didn't really find out that I really had it until I was 15. I'm 23 now.
I am 22 years old and I have NF on my right leg and foot. It is a purple-ish looking thing covering my entire lower leg and a small portion of my foot. Because of it, I have NEVER worn shorts or clothing that would show it. My husband says it doesn't bother him, but I am self conscious
I am 23 and also have Nf Type 1 my youngest daughter does too i have known since being very young
I am 34 am lived with NF since i was diagnosed at 6. My NF is centered around My back ,Trunk with a few in other areas like the top of myneurofibromatosis head. I was very self-conscious about it when I was young and still a little hesitant to take of my shirt.
I am 15 (16 in almost 4 months). I have NF type 1. I go to a camp for it every summer (for 3 summers so far). It's great!
I am 36 I have NF1 and my 10 year old daughter has it as well
I'm 15, i have NF type one, i havn't grown any tumors yet because i have lot's of freckles, my mom said i should start getting them around 20 (she also said 40...) i'm the first person in my family to get it...
i can consider myself as a mutant if i want to...but i don't want to...lol

am a 27 year old male & for the last past 3 years i had 15(NF) removed. in Nov, 2007 i started having a lot of head aches and dizzy blurry vision. some removal of the tumors has helped with some pain but i have a few around my spine n i am always in pain it sucks :( . to u all don't stop living :)

My 15 year old has terrible nightmares. Does anyone know of any remedies?
Well I'm a child as well and i realize that i cannot slpeep in my parents room, but i find one of those little lava lamp night lights that create patterns on the cealing help. Just watching the patterns makes me calmer. I don't think any type of drugs or meds are a good for getting people to sleep.
Well i have been having follow up dreams sometimes when i go to sleep i am watching my self constantly running as the world is ending just now i woke up and had a nightmare that some girls from my school were up on a skyscraper and all jumped at the same time to go to heaven together..this scares me
My son did this for a while....it was due to his video games! If he plays try taking them away for a few days and see if it helps!
Well, you need get to the root of the problem, it may be something shes watching on TV, maybe a noise that shenightmares hears while she's sleeping, it could be that she is eating too much before she goes to bed, and it could also be stress. Once you have found the source of the problem, get rid of it, and the nightmares will go away.
Hmm..... unfortunately, there is no "remedy" because nightmares aren't a disease or ailment. I've never heard of a pill that can take away bad dreams except those that take away all dreams.... which basically makes it so that you aren't entirely sleeping (you don't enter the dream state), which is NOT healthy.
What I can advise is to ask if your 15 year old would like to see a counselor. If your 15 year old is having a lot of bad nightmares, the odds are that something is bothering them either consciously or sub-consciously. Talking it out and overcoming the root of the fear is the only way to end the nightmares completely.
If she doesn't want to (or isn't able to) see a counselor, a "temporary fix" would be to sit donightmareswn and talk to her.... tell her that the best way to fight a nightmare is to remember that it is in your mind and you control it. If it's the same dream that always ends badly, have your child think up an ending that they would want to see.... and then use it in the dream. If they are always different dreams, tell your child that they can control the dream and they can choose to have the dream go to a different location or to have someone come into their dream to help them (it may take some time to learn how, but just tell them to use their imagination).

when our pets get old and are dying and in pain, we take them to the vet to get them put to sleep. it's a horrible decision to have to make, but we love them and don't want to see them suffering. yet a human being who is in their right frame of mind and has up until that point bassisted suicide jokeseen allowed to make every decision for themselves for all of their adult years, isn't allowed to make this one last choice for themselves because a bunch of old guys in congress say it's inhumane. no, what's inhumane is making someone suffer for weeks, months and sometimes years in massive amounts of pain.
i'm not saying doctor-assisted suicide is for everyone or that it is the one and only choice. but after careful consideration of the patient and the family, it is an option that should be allowed. it should be very closely monitored, of course. it shouldn't be used by a family member who just doesn't want to beassisted suicide jokes "bothered" with a sick family member. but it should definitely be allowed if the patient is in their right frame of mind, and had a living will drawn up beforehand.

Seroquel is great for sleeping. Nice solid drowsy effect. Ativan's never done much for me. They affect people differently, though - try them both.

Look at the surface area of the sea in question. It's like asking why a man in the desert can't feel a grain of sand dropped 2 miles away. Lightning hitting water would dissipate over a wide area and wouldn't have enough force behind it to hurt anything beyond a very small area....
Ships are grounded to the sea. Lightening passes straight through the ship. If not properly grounded, a direct hit can cause much damage to electronics and bonded metal connections.
There's no reason for the lighting to travel through you. Lighting is most dangerous when it strikes something that doesn't conduct well near you. The shock is caused by a difference in potential between two parts of your body. If you're in seawater the difference in potential between a point 5 feet from the strike and 6 ft from the strike is very small. If you're standing in freshwater, the difference is much larger and you get shocked.
Well there are two things at work here. First off some of the current probably does travel up the ship. However even if it did hit the ship it probably would not affect the people all that much. Even 'ground currents' (the ahow water conducts electricityrea on land around which lightning strikes) are only deadly for a couple of yards.
Also the current density coursing through the ship wouldn't be that great unless the lightning strike was right next to the ship. The closed loop would likely not contain your body as it is of high impedance.

A back of the envelope calculation would say that if you were swimming along, you probably don't want to be closer than 3 m to the actual strike point. The cruise ship is not a good example, since it is grounded, and has metal all over. However, if you were swimming in the pool on the aft fantail, and conditions were just right.... In review, once a strike happens, the charge density reduced to very low levels a short distance from the strike point. Case closed. Oh, except the misnomer about fresh water. It still conducts electricity, just has a high resistance. So, remember if you are in fresh water, the lightning will pick you as a path first if you're in the way...

Seafaring objects can be harmed by lightning. A man in the rigging of a ship can be killed. The electronics on a boat can be fried.
The way to keep these things from happening is to make sure that there are easy paths of electrical flow from high in the ship to the water.
Extremely sensitive electronics can be shielded or insulated from the surrounding boat and only connect to other systems through wires and circuits that will automatically cut out when there is a power surge.

Look at the surface area of the sea in question. It's like asking why a man in the desert can't feel a grain of sand dropped 2 miles away. Lightning hitting water would dissipate over a wide area and wouldn't have enough force behind it to hurt anything beyond a very small area....
Ships are grounded to the sea. Lightening passes straight through the ship. If not properly grounded, a direct hit can cause much damage to electronics and bonded metal connections.
There's no reason for the lighting to travel through you. Lighting is most dangerous when it strikes something that doesn't conduct well near you. The shock is caused by a difference in potential between two parts of your body. If you're in seawater the difference in potential between a point 5 feet from the strike and 6 ft from the strike is very small. If you're standing in freshwater, the difference is much larger and you get shocked.
Well there are two things at work here. First off some of the current probably does travel up the ship. However even if it did hit the ship it probably would not affect the people all that much. Even 'ground currents' (the ahow water conducts electricityrea on land around which lightning strikes) are only deadly for a couple of yards.
Also the current density coursing through the ship wouldn't be that great unless the lightning strike was right next to the ship. The closed loop would likely not contain your body as it is of high impedance.
Well, in fact the charged clouds can and do make charge flow through the conduting water into the ship. But its a static charge - no current flows.
So the conductivity of the water means you have charged clouds over a charged sheet - the perfect conditions to create a coronal plasma discharge - a pale blue glow around pointy objects such as masts. When this happens it is called St Elmo's Fire.
When lightning does strike the water a current does flow, but it is rapidly conducted away by the water and causes no real harm.
The sea us so big, that the electricity is distributed over a very large area, and its strength then becomes negligible.
This question came up previously. The short answer is, objects are not unharmed if they are in the lethal zone. A back of the envelope calculation would say that if you were swimming along, you probably don't want to be closer than 3 m to the actual strike point. Also, there are many instances of seafarers getting zapped by having broken or not sufficient grounding on there boats. The cruise ship is not a good example, since it is grounded, and has metal all over. However, if you were swimming in the pool on the aft fantail, and conditions were just right.... These scenarios require that you are part of the 'path of least resistance', between the sky above and the sea below.
In review, once a strike happens, the charge density reduced to very low levels a short distance from the strike point. Case closed. Oh, except the misnomer about fresh water. It still conducts electricity, just has a high resistance. So, remember if you are in fresh water, the lightning will pick you as a path first if you're in the way...

"local" is a relative term, depending for its definition on how conductive are the objects proximate to the strike -- for instance, the steel lower hull of a hypothetical unpainted cruise vessel at sea would conduct electricity better than the flesh of a surfaced whale -- meaning it would be less invulnerable (this ignores the effect of the lightning on the whale's nervous system)
however, cruise vessels are painted and great attention is paid to mitigation of electrolytic forces that would otherwise cause accelerated degradation of the hull -- so, in layman's terms, cruise vessels are not electrically conductive with respect to the marine environment, because they are electrically insulated by their paint (and otherwise "bonded" to the marine environment)
the path of the electricity wouldn't shock the people, because they are never between the source of the charge and the electrical ground
Seafaring objects can be harmed by lightning. A man in the rigging of a ship can be killed. The electronics on a boat can be fried.
The way to keep these things from happening is to make sure that there are easy paths of electrical flow from high in the ship to the water.
Extremely sensitive electronics can be shielded or insulated from the surrounding boat and only connect to other systems through wires and circuits that will automatically cut out when there is a power surge.
Now, for you example of lightning hitting the water. The electricity wants to spread out and get the individual electrons way from one another. Once the lightning hits the water, it is easier to just spread out in the water than to travel up into the ship.
